Trying to work with a certain process at the moment. Ive been using old photographs, working them into the style that I used for colours may vary, working with line and then taking it away once the colour has been added. So far its working really well with the images Ive been working on. Just need to keep going, and hopefully will turn into a pretty nice book.
So happy to have this style to work in, I think it works well.
Ive then been working the photographs and drawings into something a little more playful.
The idea behind this is that I am making sure I am constantly thinking about process and play. Feeding in the idea of the open mode of creativity, as I am aware how essential this is to me, and to my practice if I want it to improve.
The other reason behind it, is simplifying the imagery in order to create screen prints from them. By extracting details, this as a print becomes far more sellable. Working from pure line to big shapes and wiggly lines changed the image completely, and I like being able to do both. I find it a lot easier to work from something detailed and simplifying it, rather than the other way round.
I think this is my favourite. I could make this into a 3 colour screen print, next to the wiggly baker. My aim is to have 3 screen prints proposed for the submission. They should be able to suit the aesthetic and theme of the overall project, but bring something new to the table. I want to be able to show that I can work in varying styles, whilst maintaining a certain aesthetic.
