Gathering people's words ready for the book! I have come to realise that I really like to get people involved with my projects. I should look into community based projects when this is over.
Each persons thoughts or stories will accompany an illustration, and I will best match them as possible. The hand written element adds the personal touch, and the nostalgic feel that I wanted to evoke.
The tense of the person changes too, from person to person, which I really like. It adds new levels to the publication, and should hopefully make the viewer realise that the book is just about a man, and takes away from the fact that he's my dad.
My mum wrote something really lovely the other day, and she referred to him as her husband so there's a few angles and I think it will work really well.
Got a few more to come, which is good because it will be nice to be able to select words that best suit the imagery.
