Composition

A lot of the time I still feel like a novice on this course. I love to draw, and I'm learning new things everyday, but this brief on composition completely opened my eyes. The hand out made so much sense, and gave me guidance that I doubt I will ever forget when it comes to image making.
Simple things, such as overlapping, changing sizes and varying placements all add to a good composition.

I still need plenty of practice, but in my head it makes sense now, which is fantastic!

This one I wanted the monster to be lurking in the shadows, and the sleeping boy the centre of focus. However i wasn't happy with the composition, I feel i did the monster too big, and its presence wasn't as mysterious as i'd intended.

Tried again. I like this one better. This time the monster being the main focal point. I feel i created a foreground mid ground and background better in this piece. I stitched material down for the bed and used a variety of medias which turned out to be super fun. Need to keep trying new things and practicing more compositions through using roughs.
