Secret 7 initial research

In all honesty, I wasn't as impressed with the song selection this year in comparison to the last few years. However, I definitely want to work with a few of them.
The song choice this year and the rules -

So we have-

Tame Impala - The less I know the better

John Lennon- Imagine

Etta James- At last

Chvrches- Clearest blue

Jack Garratt- Worry

Max Richter- Dream 3

The Jam- Art School

Im quite interested in doing a few. I think I will start with 3 and see how I get on. At the moment I'm thinking of doing Tame Impala, Etta James, and then I'm torn between chvrches, John Lennon and Max Richter. I really like the idea of trying to illustrate or create work for a classical piece of music, because there are no words to work with.
A little research into these artists existing vinyl covers has helped me to visualise what the musicians themselves like.

Etta James doesn't really have any arty vinyl sleeves, nor does Lennon. I think that why I want to do one of these, put a contemporary twist in the mix.

The classical cover. Again, nothing very exciting.

Churches seem to love shape! Im no good at working with shape, but maybe this is my chance to change that. I want to push myself with these, and create work that I wouldn't normally.

Jack Garratt is pretty new on the scene, so there isn't much out there. The first one is very graphic design based. Quite minimal approaches.

Tame Impale are super psychedelic. Lots of colour, lots to look at. Pretty trippy stuff really.

Im not sure whether to take a completely new approach to the vinyl sleeves instead of creating something similar to whats already been done.
Yeah, I think thats what i'll do.
