The big book of packaging

The big book of Packaging- Will Burke, Lisa Baer, James Pietruszynski

Im trying to look at products that work well as a set/series. This particular book is full of companies that create beautiful packaging. Things I'm starting to notice that I hadn't before, are things like, use of type, will it be big or small, thin or fat. Use of colours, bright, bold, pastel?

These are thing I need to be asking myself throughout the process of applying my illustrations to the packaging. I need to consider how it will look on a shelf full of tea, will it stand out?

Looking at books like this is helping me to make my own decisions about what I think works and what I don't. Its also making me realise the breadth of packaging out there, and how much illustration within packaging can be pushed so much more. It might be a good route to go down in the future, as I think its something thats growing and expanding, which means there will be more demand and more jobs. Something to consider anyway.
