Illustration friday- SOAR

Decided i'd start doing illustration Friday as one of my responsive briefs, mainly because they should be quick to do. I'm usually much better at working with longer briefs, so its good to push myself to work quicker, and who knows, I might produce some totally new work.

My aim is to think of a few components I want in each weeks illustration, e.g. texture, shape, limited colour palette, sense of space, line of sight etc.

This weeks word was soar, and I knew I wanted to produce a digital image which had texture and shape as my main components.

I did a small amount of research for this on Pinterest, mainly looking for images that had texture in them, then I began to make some roughs of various ideas.

Illustration friday isn't something I wanted to do, I don't think it pushes me in the direction I want to take as an illustrator in the future, but I'm worried that I'm quite behind with responsive, so I need something I can do quickly. As long as I can add some essence of what i want to achieve in each image I don't mind doing it so much. Im pleased with the textures I created in this one!
